Kicking off on the 19th of January, the 2013 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, also known as the Orange Africa Cup of Nations for sponsorship reasons, will end on February 10, 2013. This will be the 29th Africa Cup of Nations organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The 2013 football championship of Africa will be staged in South Africa after that country struck a deal with Libya to swap their hosting rights from 2017 due to the Libyan civil war.
FNB Stadium at Johannesburg will host the opening match and the final. The other venues selected for matches are Moses Mabhida Stadium at Durban, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium at Port Elizabeth, Mbombela Stadium at Nelspruit, and Royal Bafokeng Stadium at Rustenburg.
Katlego, which means "success" in Sesotho language, the official match ball of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations, South Africa 2013. This is manufactured by Adidas and it is the 4th ball especially created for the most important African football tournament.
Zambia's National football team known as The Chipolopolo (the Copper Bullets), emerged as the winner of the 2012 CAF Africa Cup of Nations. As a title holder, the team automatically qualified in this year Africa Cup of Nations along with host South Africa and fourteen other teams.
The draw for the final tournament took place on 24 October 2012 in Durban.
In the first round of the tournament, the teams will compete in round-robin groups of three teams for points, with the top two teams in each group proceeding to the knockout stage.
