2013 FIBA Asia Championship Updates, Highlights, Schedule, Group Standings, Video, Stats, Scores and Results

The 2013 FIBA Asia Championships, the intercontinental championship for basketball organized by FIBA Asia, will be held from August 1–11 in Manila, Philippines with the SM Mall of Asia as the primary venue and Ninoy Aquino Stadium the secondary.

It will only be the third time in FIBA-Asia’s 53-year history that the Philippines is hosting the biennial competition. Philippines last hosted the event in 1973. Lebanon was the original host for this year's event. FIBA opted to give the hosting to the Philippines after it realized the original host not fit as venue because of a continuing conflict.

The FIBA Asia Championship 2013 serves as the qualifier to the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain. The top three teams from the FIBA Asia Championship will earn the right to represent FIBA Asia at the 2014 FIBA World Cup.

The draw for the 2013 FIBA Asia Championships took place in Manila Hotel, Manila, Philippines on June 6. FIBA-Asia Secretary General Hagop Khajirian supervised the drawing of groupings.

Below are the 2013 FIBA Asia Championships preliminary and second round group standing, final round game schedule, stats and results:

  1. Philippines need to loose vs the Qatar game in Aug 6 in order to avoid China in the knock-out stage, but face china in the Bronze Medal Match....

    2. You hopeless case pea-brain, this is the year the Philippines will have the chance to enter the FIBA World Cup in 2014 since the top 3 finishers for this year will automatically qualify.

Now, because even if China wins all its games in the second round, China will still hold the number 3 spot in their group. Now Philippines is currently in the 2nd place in their group, and by God you hopeless cases, there's no way Philippines is going to win against China in the quarterfinals/knock-out stage. I'd rather for them to face Korea in the knock-out stage where they have a higher chance of winning and get a spot in semi-finals stage.

Now when they are in the semi-finals stage, I would rather for them to face Chinese Taipei than Iran where the Philippines have a higher chance of winning. Let China have their revenge on Iran than Philippines face Iran in the semi-finals stage and loose their chance of garnering the 4th place and loose their chance time and again to enter a global basketball competition like the FIBA World Championship.

Now, do you get it already??? If you still don't, I don;t know anymore how you we're even able to finish your elementary education :(

    3. Correction...despite the 3-way tie in the Gilas group, Gilas still holds the second spot unless they dump Hong Kong by at least 15 points..and if not, they will face China in the quarterfinals/knock-out stage...Hmmmm....

    4. What the Hell? are you nostradamus? Philippines is a threat to every team..remember that!

    5. hindi china ang makakalaban ng Gilas sa QT bro, kundi kazakhstan,if they beat the kazakhs, they will face either korea or qatar in the semis...mas lumaki ang tsansa ng Gilas na makapasok sa finals..ngayon rage888 sino ang tanga...hahahaha

    6. Gaithe, wake up :) Gilas is actually the one threatened by everybody else HAHAHA!!!...Remember? HAHAHA

    1. Hey Ms. Valdes, just read my reply to Mr. Rey above. If you too still don't get it then maybe you were classmates since your primary education years hahaha :)

  3. rage888 is dumb. Why are you being a pussy to face China? Korea beats China. Iran beats China. Now you're still scared of China? You said you'd rather face Korea than China even though Korea beats China? You're a stupid piece of shit!!! The ball is round nigga!!! If you're scared of China so much then how else would you be more scared to face the teams in the world cup(USA, Spain...)??? Let the game speak for itself and let the best/deserving team get to the world cup. Stop being a moron!!! You're too ahead more than yourself.

    1. Hahaha! You're just another pea-brain as well and nigga your a** as well hahaha! There's no way the current roster of the Gilas is going to beat China and Iran.

Try harder in convincing yourselves more and you will end up hanging yourselves instead when the inevitable finally comes. The best case for Gilas in this tournament is only 3rd place.

It could have been 2nd place if they have just played their cards with the odds on their side..Foolish coaching staff, just like you and the 2 others above who seem to be your classmates since your elementary years!!! HAHAHA!!!

      Delete
    2. I think rage888 is right...we need to avoid china and iran in early knockout stage.if Chinese taipei win their game against qatar..we need to lost our game against hongkong to get the possible 3rd place in bracket E to be able to face korea which is in 2nd place on barcket F...but in reverse if qatar wins the possible 3ple tie on first place came on favor in our roster...

      Delete
    3. Regardless, if Qatar wins over Taipei, there's going to be a 3-way tie in their bracket where the standings will not be affected - the standings will remain 1. Taipei, 2. Philippines, 3. Qatar and China will continue to sweep its second round cementing it's 3rd place standing in their group.

The only chance they could have evaded China in the quarterfinals/knock-out round is they intentionally loose to Qatar last night.

      Delete
    4. BTW, loosing to HKG would be very obvious, Gilas would be penalized for doing so...i think?...

      Delete
    5. Both of u such a idiot losser ashole... Qatar beat chinese t. .. if gilas beat low rated hongkong.. gilas will be on top 1 in group E WHERE in , there going to face kazaktan in q.finals and to d semis either korea or chinese t.

      Delete
    6. Qatar beating S Korea was just plain luck dim wit hehehe...I believe you are classmates with the pea-heads above HAHAHA!!!..

And FYI, Gilas will face the Kazaks in the knock-out/quaterfinals...If they win, they will face either Korea or Qatar in the semis...And if their luck doesn't run out, they will face either China or Iran for the Championship...If they (Gilas) do reach the championship match they automatically qualify for the 2014 FIBA World Cup and that's gonna be MAYHEM!!!

But if Qatar didn't get lucky, we will be facing China for the quarterfinals/Knock out stage...So, does your pea-brain really convinced you that we will knock out China if Qatar was not lucky??? HAH in your wildest dreams!!! Perhaps if Gilas have 2 Douthits and Jeff Chan id 6'7" and De Ocampo and Pingris is 6'10....Dream on dude HAHAHA!!!

      Delete
    7. Correction...despite the 3-way tie in Gilas' group, Gilas is still in the 2nd spot. Gilas needs to dump Hong Kong tonight by at least 15 points to gain the 1st spot in their group in order to face the less talented Kazaks in the quarterfinals/knock-out stage...If they are not able to, then they will face the tall, faster and more experienced Chinese squad in the quarterfinals/knockout stage AND here will be the optimists' prayers come into play...I just hope you optimistic guys are not Christian hypocrites so as your prayers will not get back at you...HEHEHE ;)
