Week 4 of the 2012-13 NFL season will feature several marquee matchups. Some of the big matchups this week include the 49ers visiting the NY Jets, the NY Giants visiting the Eagles, and the Bears going to Cowboys Stadium to play the Cowboys on Monday night. Google Doodle: Google's 14th Birthday | Happy birthday!

Happy Birthday Google!

Google, the world’s biggest Internet company, the number one web search engine, on Thursday, September 27, 2012, turns 14 and celebrates its birthday with chocolate cake doodle with "Google" inscribed on it

Since 2002, Google has been celebrating with special birthday doodles. Now, the Google doodle starts with an obvious cake with 14 candles. We see the candles being blown out and the cake transforming into a Google logo with 14 candles besides it.

There has always been a debate about Google's birthday date. Google celebrated September 7 (the day when the company was incorporated) as its birthday till 2005.

However, in 2005 Google changed the date to September 27 to make it coincide with the announcement of the record number of pages that the search engine was indexing.

Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin with the objective "to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful".

It's has been 14 years since 1998 when two Stanford university students got together to form a company that would change the face of the Internet, for ever.

Here are some of the amazing facts about Google:

1. Google started in January, 1996 as a research project at Stanford University, by Ph.D. candidates Larry Page and Sergey Brin when they were 24 years old and 23 years old respectively
2. Google's original name was 'BackRub'
3. Backrub was hosted on ten 4GB hard drives in a storage case made of Lego
4. Google is a mathematical term 1 followed by one hundred zeroes. The term was coined by Milton Sirotta, nephew of American mathematician Edward Kasne.
5. Google.com was registered in 1997 - a year before the site launched
6. The first Google Doodle was posted in 1998, to let people know that founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page were at the Burning Man festival
7. 'Google' became a verb in the Oxford English Dictionary in June 2006
8. Google estimates more than one million spam pages are created each hour
9. Google receives daily search requests from all over the world, including Antarctica
10.  The Google search engine receives about a billion search requests per day

Boxing: Pacquiao vs Marquez for the Fourth Time

Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez are stepping in the ring together for a fourth historic bout to resolve eight years rivalry between them.

The fourth clash in this legendary fight series will take place on December 8 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

They have three controversial fight in the past eight years. The two fighters fought to a draw in 2004, while Pacquiao won by split decision in 2008 and again by majority decision last year.

The recently defeated Pacquiao over Timothy Bradley last June, and Marquez must knock out each other or win impressively to erase the doubt of all critics and prove who's the better fighter.

64th Primetime Emmy Awards | 2012 Winners

The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards 2012 honors the best in primetime television programming from June 1, 2011 until May 31, 2012. It was held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, September 23.

The winners have been announced, with "Homeland," "Modern Family" and "Game Change" dominating the drama, comedy and TV movie/miniseries categories, respectively. "Homeland" earned Showtime its first Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, breaking "Mad Men's" four-year winning streak. "Modern Family" won its third consecutive Outstanding Comedy Series.

Both the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers avoided a 0-2 start after they got their first win of the season last week.

Eli Manning and defending Super Bowl champion Giants overcame a 14-point deficit, leading New York to a huge 41-34 win over Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While Cam Newton ran for a career-high 71 yards, leading the Panthers to a big 35-27 win over the New Orleans Saints.

Both high-profile QB from the Panthers and Giants will display their contrasting style on this game. Eli with arm and Newton with legs. Two teams have split six regular-season meetings, with New York winning three of the last four. A 31-18 Giants home victory in their last matchup on September 12, 2010. Manning threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns but was also picked off three times.

The Panthers, like four other teams since 2009, waived Andre Brown after he failed to make a lasting impression. He's determined that won't happen again and that this time he'll find a home in the NFL with the team that originally drafted him — the New York Giants.

Andy Murray Wins U.S. Open, Defeats Novak Djokovic For 1st Grand Slam Title

Coming off his Olympic victory last month at Wimbledon, Andy Murray has finally won the first Grand Slam title of his career, shrugging off defending champion Novak Djokovic's comeback bid to win 7-6 (10), 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2.

22-point tiebreaker

The 25-year-old from Scotland won the first set (7-6) after a historic 22-point tiebreaker, the longest tiebreak in U.S. Open final history.

Djokovic stormed back into the match, winning the third (6-2) and fourth (6-3) sets to force a decisive winner-take-all fifth set. As the match moved past four hours and into the fifth set, Djokovic who was playing with less rest than his opponent began to tire. With the crowd behind him in Ashe, Murray powered past Djokovic to capture the final set, 6-2.

It had been 76 years since a British man won a Grand Slam singles championship. Murray became the first British man since Fred Perry in 1936 to take one of the four biggest titles -- the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon or U.S. Open.

Baltimore Ravens opened their NFL season with a convincing 44-13 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals

Quarterback Joe Flacco threw for 299 yards and two touchdowns and Ed Reed's 34-yard interception return for a touchdown was the highlight of a solid performance by the Ravens. 

The interception gave Reed 1,497 yards in interception returns, eclipsing the previous NFL mark of 1,483 by Rod Woodson.
